Fence Installation in Torquay: A Tidy Finish to the Week

It’s always satisfying to wrap up the week with a job completed properly, and this fencing project in Torquay was a great example of that.

The DTG Fencing team, working as part of DTG Trees & Grounds, were called in to install new fencing along the top of an existing wall to create a more secure and enclosed garden space for the homeowner.

While it was a relatively straightforward job on paper, the key to getting the right result was making sure everything underneath the fence was solid and properly prepared before installation began.

Preparing the Wall Before Installing the Fence

Before installing any fencing, the team inspected the condition of the wall the fence would be fixed to. Along the top of the wall there were a number of loose stones and areas of masonry that needed attention.

Rather than simply installing the fence straight away, we first sorted the masonry and refixed the loose stones to make sure the structure was solid. Taking the time to do this properly ensures the fencing has a strong base and prevents issues further down the line.

Once the wall had been secured and made safe, the fencing installation could begin.

Installing the 9.5 Metre Run of Fencing

The project involved installing a 9.5 metre run of fencing along the top of the wall. The fence was installed level from the starting point and fixed securely to the outside of the wall to ensure strength and durability.

Installing fencing above a wall requires careful alignment and strong fixing points to make sure the finished result is both stable and visually clean. By running the fence level across the entire length, the final installation created a neat, consistent boundary.consistent appearance.

Creating a Fully Enclosed Space

To complete the project, the team added return sections on both sides of the fence. This helped create a fully enclosed space for the customer, improving privacy and making the garden more secure.

Small details like these can make a big difference to how a space functions, particularly for homeowners who want a clearly defined boundary or a safe area for children and pets.

Removing the Old Fence

As part of the work, the team also removed the old dismantled fencing that had previously been in place. Clearing away old materials is an important part of finishing a project properly and leaving the site tidy.

With the old fence removed and the new one securely installed, the garden now has a much cleaner and more practical boundary.
